Located at a height of 14,140 feet, Nathula Pass is the best place for trekking enthusiasts while visiting Sikkim. The famous point of interest in Sikkim is the border trade market, Sherathang where one can buy Tibetan items at a cheap price. Near to that is situated a tiny hamlet, Kupup, which always stays under clouds. This will surely be a beautiful experience. The view from Nathula Pass is remarkable too.
The undulating meadows, the grazing yaks, and the wild Teesta River, Yumthang valley is among the top places to visit in Sikkim. Situated at a height of more than 11,000 feet above sea level, this valley is beautified with flowers at around 150 kilometers from Gangtok. Visit the valley in late February to March during the Losar festival or from April to June, when the Rhododendrons bloom and envelop the valley in complete glory.
Set at an altitude of 17,800 feet, Gurudongmar Lake is a high altitude Himalayan lake which is a scenic and peaceful place. Blessed with the beauty of snow-covered mountains, this lake remains frozen almost throughout the year. It reflects the sky and clouds like a mirror amidst the water. At a distance of 180 kilometers from Gangtok, this is one of the highly suggested places to visit in Sikkim. One has to take permits too!
Lachung is a small town which shines like a morning star. Situated at an elevation of 9,610 feet in North Sikkim, it is a nature’s delight. With a distance 118 kilometers covering from Gangtok, a drive witnessing this beauty with the meandering Teesta River will give you an unforgettable experience.
